ray1.jpgRed Bull: Yo Chris!
Chris Ray: Whatusp man

RB: What's going on man.
CR: Are you heading down to Maloof this weekend?

RB: Yeah maybe on Sunday everything.. What about you?
CR: Just wrapping up the video, we just did a online premier of Joeys part yesterday.

RB: Yeah yeah, didn't see it, but I was trying to get people to see it on the site.
CR: Yeah we did that, and now we just wrapped all the dvd stuff and it will be in stores on July 21st

RB: Wow, I cant wait to see it.
CR: The DVD will come with a little book and poster, so more shelf life.

RB: So more bang for your buck?
CR: Yeah something you can't get on youtube.

RB: I like how you guys are doing the webcast.
CR: What I like is that it's live and that nobody can steal it, that was at 5pm and that you had to log in at a certain time to see it, one time.

RB: So are you guys already working on the next vid.
CR: Yeah, their are a few dudes are have already been working with. One guy had an idea, so I just started in the middle of this video, just because we only get 9 - 10 months. I might as well start working with people, so so they can start stacking footage, yeah just keep it going.

rightfootforwardtimeline.jpgRB: The amount your skating, you can always have a dude come on the off days.
CR: We're still trying to nail it down and stuff, but for this next video, were gonna have a head start then I have ever had, for TWS video. With Jon were really trying to get on it get ready to do it.. It makes it easier on our lives at the end, obviously, the trick quality is soo high, you need all the time you can get.

RB: Yeah, when people are spending 2-3 years on a video part, its hard to cram it in.
CR: Yeah I think thats the sickest part about the video, well its actually a good thing but a bad thing, is that it comes out soo quick, so its all really fresh and current. But the disadvantage is that Joey getting hurt and only being able to film for 6 months. I mean, the video comes out in June, no matter what, even if every single dude could get hurt, it doesn't matter, I has to come out in June (for TWS awards) regardless if anybody likes it or not.

RB: I wonder if you could ever have a backup dude, I mean would you say that Matt Miller's stuff was before you even officially worked on his part?
CR: Yeah, that actually worked out good, cause I was working on his Zoo York part and then we kinda needed more stuff. Then after TWS came around, I spoke to the dudes over at Zoo, and that stuff that I had already filmed they said they wanted to go into his TWS part. Basically they wanted it to be best as possible, so that kinda worked out. And then especially with dudes, they normally skate with other skaters, so most of the time, you will get footage of that dude too. So if something were to happen, you have a lot of other footage.. I mean but we always just focus on that main guy.

millerandduff.jpgRB: I could see it being really tough, but then again TWS video is the defining moment for a lot of skaters for when they turn pro, so its kind alike, "Hey, if you can finish this part in 10 months, you deserve to turn pro" because you kinda just cranked this whole thing out.
CR: Yeah I always tell the dudes, its only gonna be easier after this, you won't ever have to crank out a video part like Gravette, he wont ever have to deal with that stress again, ya know, like Creature wont ever hey I need you to film it.. Its gonna be more cause you wanted to.

RB: Do you guys have a name for the new video.
CR: Naw, that's the hard part, we'd probably do a trip and figure it out. Hopefully it will spark something. Usually we do a trip with everyone that's in the video, towards the end of the video, but this time were gonna do the trip in the beginning of the video, everybody will be together at once, and we can kinda put together a theme the entire Right Foot Forward, thing came about when Duffel just said "Oh damn, Everyone is all goofy, it's gonna be weird at spots."

RB: But the name works, it's a double meaning.
CR: It worked out, I didn't really like it, I thought it was cheesy, but everyone at TWS loved it.

RB: Majority wins?
CR: I had these names I really liked, but if you guys like this name, then cool. Then after doing the ad's it really worked, I mean the next video wont be just regular footers or anything.

chrisrayquote.jpg

RB: That's the thing, it wasn't planned, which make it such a weird coincidence and it worked perfect.
CR: Exactly, thats what were hoping for of the new video..

RB: Are you allowed to say who you got in the new video.
CR: Not yet.

RB: I mean I already know one.. I saw you guys at Hollywood High the other day together, but I wont say anything..
CR: Heheheh, yeah. I mean people are talking about who. We just wanna drop everyone at once, like "Here are all the dudes in the video." I mean, shoot though, this one now isn't even out in stores yet, so its giving us some time to really think about the next video. But so far, the next line up is gonna be really sick.. I'm not questioning it at all..

RB: Was "And Now" was your first video?
CR: Well I worked for Lakai first before Transworld, but And New was my first video I fully involved in the editing, filming.. I don't think people know that everything involved with the video Jon and I do. The dvd box, ad's everything, I dunno.

RB: You guys are fully apart of it.
CR: Yeah everything.

chrisrayandjonholland.jpgRB: Oh so my question was, would you say this time around being your second video, did you really get a grasp on how it all flows, but not just video wise, but working with Jon (Holland) and the back end.
CR: Yeah, for most of the either video, I would just film, but after editing And Now, I really realize when putting it together, that "Oh, I will need this roll up shot, or I need this face shot."

RB: Because you could really place it all in your head.
CR: Yeah totally, I mean when I was first filming for And Now, I could was like, "I didn't really even know how to begin."

RB: I totally understand.
CR: Jon taught me a lot. I mean editing the video was really fun.

RB: That's awesome. I am excited to see Joey's part. I heard he was hurt, but he also had a lot of footage before he got hurt. Plus I wouldn't necessarily call him a work-a-holic, but he is definitely out there skating everyday.
CR: Ohh yeah.. everyday. He would meet and skate with us and get a trick every single day, he just loves skating.

RB: Or maybe sending text message's of poop.
CR: Haha, yeah exactly. Luckly, Hernandez worked for Adio and was working with Joey before he got hurt.

RB: Yeah, I saw him when he got hurt, but he was still pushing it.
