Making the most of the compulsory mid season break, Red Bull Racing opened its factory doors to five of the most talented UK skateboarders. Armed with a variety of ramps and equipment, the skaters were challenged to come up with the most outrageous trick.
SEAN-SMITH-NOSEWHEELIE-f1.jpg The Formula 1 championship challenging race team decided to make full use of their state-of-the-art facilities after Kris Vile, a Red Bull sponsored skater, was given a guided tour a few months ago. He earmarked the Race Bays at the factory, the area where the mechanics painstakingly work on the cars in between races, as his dream place to skate.

Yesterday, within minutes of their arrival, the five skaters were already creating some outrageous tricks. Much to their surprise, Red Bull Racing bravely offered them access to three F1 cars to incorporate into their tricks and set as an iconic backdrop.

vile_f1.jpgAfter a few hours of solid skating, Kris decided it was time to push the limits and announced he would like to jump one of the F1 cars. After a couple of dummy runs and a nervous nod from Red Bull, the young Brit was ready to go. Picking up an immense amount of speed in his approach, Kris took to the air and flew over the powerful machine landing perfectly on the other side. Not one to miss an opportunity he was soon requesting another turn, this time to get 'more air'. Red Bull took little persuasion and sure enough the second jump was even bigger.

Kris, one of the leading British skaters, comments: "As soon as I saw the floor here at Red Bull Racing I knew I had to skate it but I never thought I'd ever get the chance. This has definitely been a day I will never forget. Jumping the F1 car was definitely the icing on the cake. The first was amazing but for me the second jump is the one I'll always remember."

Other skaters were:
1. Mikey Wright
2. Joe Moore
3. Sean Smith
4. Rodney Clarke

lon_lon.jpgOk, I am writing this realizing that obviously film is dead for most people. But for a photo novice like me, I still wanna experience what guys i looked up to did when they shot 35mm film. When it happened to me today.. I AM UNDERSTANDING IT, NOW!

The story is, I shot a bunch of film on our Red Bull Nevermind the Bullocks trip to London, and I guess I had lost a roll of film, or left it in my camera. Eitherway, I just recently got developed and it was like a tour back through time to that tour. It highlighted a lot of the people on our trip, and the places we visited. I know I am getting kinda emo/artsy fartsy, but you get the point right? I guess, that it never happens to me much, so might as well write about my bit of excitement. Is that so bad?

Well to really push the point, I posted a bunch of the photos here for you to view.
Plus I saved one for a later TARP post.

1. This was Kris Vile, in our typical travel mode... London Taxi's. How many quid?kv_lon.jpg

2. One of the best views in the world. You really feel like your in a movie or something.

3. Obviously being Red Bull, we have tons of great hats to wear, and this was one that once Joey got his hands on it.. He wore it the entire time, even in bed.

4. Jereme was skating in front of our super nice hotel, so I guess our own hotel called the cops. This was the horse cop, giving us crap.. british style!cop_lon.jpg

jb_littleman.jpgToday was a "work day". Meaning we weren't able to skate or do anything that we wanted to. Today was interview's for the Fuel TV show that is released in a couple months. Plus we wanted to see some of the sights so we mixed it up. Pretty cool.

First off was Buckingham Palace. Wait, I forgot to mention it was raining, which sucks for sightseeing, but we made due. Where was I, oh yeah Buckingham Palace: Kinda a bore, it was just a gate with the palace behind it. No guards, other then the ones we created for ourselves. see Azar photo Joey B. made a little friend real quick and was the entertainment of most the crew. Man that little guy can party.

sa_buckingham.jpgThe walk to Big Ben was awesome, because it was through a huge park, with tons of tree's we made friends with some squirrels, who Ryan Decenzo actually picked up and almost was able to pet. It was crazy that they weren't scared. Little piece of chocolate I guess goes a long way, especially for animals.

Once we arrived to the ole Big Ben, which is just a tower. I mean, its cool and old, but simply a clock tower. But when you got a group of goofs, even a clock tower is awesome. Next was the boats. We took these awesome boats from one end of the jr_eye.jpgriver to the other and saw London from the middle of the water, instead of one side or another.

Basically we lerked really hard and just walked around the area for "work". What was a real treat was this London Eye, which is basically a huge ferris wheel type thing which takes like 45 mins to go all the way around and hung out for "work". Joey booked it early, because he had some "beer testing work" to do with Paul Shier. While the rest of us took cabs home for a little break.

IMG_5374.jpgSo after a couple hours of maxing and relaxing, we headed out to a nice dinner with the crew and after a couple drinks, we started to let loose.

Oh did I mention it was our Team Manager Pete's bday? So it was really on! Drinks all around, shots, beers and more shots! I wish I could describe how we all felt when we woke up, but it wasn't a good thing.

AAA_flag.jpgTake an extreme urban sport, Europe's most skilled skaters and put ramps on an ex World War II defence base in the North Sea and you have, perhaps, the most insane project ever seen in the world of skateboarding, maybe the defining Red Bull Access all areas.
Six top European skaters including Britain's Kris Vile and European champion Philipp Schuster came to see if they could hone their skills on a rusty 350 square metre platform in the middle of the seas on a strange aquatic version of a set in a Mad Max movie. Sealand, although run down and still recovering from fire damage, appears as a cross between an oil rig and a Bond villain hideaway. It was built as 'Rough Towers' along with a string of other bastions in international waters and manned with guns for defence in the war.
